RYAN GIGGS insists Manchester United will be too strong for local rivals City in the great Premier League title race.
United can roar past Roberto Mancini's side and go top if they avoid defeat against Blackburn tomorrow.
Giggs, chasing his 13th championship crown, said: "The experience the manager, players and coaching staff have of what's required in the second half of the season will help us as well as our hunger and desire to win competitions.
"It's been a strong start from us. Obviously City have got off to a better start but we are pleased with where we are in the table and especially our form at the moment."
Giggs added: "We'll just look to kick on as we always do in the second half of the season and hopefully we'll have a bit more luck with injuries and have a strong run after Christmas.
"Big players cannot wait for big games and towards the end of the season the games get bigger and bigger. For me personally, you want that.
"You want to be involved in big games and going for the title. That's why you play football."
United defender Phil Jones, 19, hopes to be back in contention to face his old club tomorrow.
The England ace suffered a facial injury at Fulham last week and was then ill for the 5-0 Boxing Day thrashing of Wigan.
But Jones is keen to face his boyhood club, who he left in a £16.5million deal back in June.
Jones said: "I'm still a massive fan. As soon as we come off the pitch I always look to see how Blackburn have got on.
"I still have a lot of friends at the club. I'm sure they'll improve.
"They are a lot better than their league position shows. Unfortunately, they're at the bottom now.
"We won't find it easy, though. Rovers have some cracking players and we can't take them lightly."
