Terry Connor weighs up Wolves recall for Karl Henry for Bolton clash

The Wolves manager, Terry Connor, is weighing up whether to risk key midfielder Karl Henry in Saturday's relegation clash with Bolton at Molineux.

Henry is back in training after being sidelined for nearly a month with a hamstring injury suffered in the 5-0 defeat against Fulham at Craven Cottage on 4 March.

However, Connor is mindful of the danger of putting Henry out of action for another month if he is not 100% ready to return.

Connor said: "Karl was missing for three to four weeks so we will just see how he is towards the end of the week. It is great to have him back training and Karl has been a really important member. But I'll only pick him if it is right to do.

"It will be great to have him back for one game but I don't want to miss him for another four weeks after."

Henry was stripped of the captaincy by the previous manager, Mick McCarthy, and replaced by summer signing Roger Johnson. Connor has backed that decision and believes Johnson has shown a positive attitude after being dropped.

When Connor was asked whether he was surprised Henry was demoted as captain, he said: "Not at all. A new signing came in and Roger fitted the bill. That is how the previous manager wanted to go. I support that 100%.

"I don't think the captaincy has put more pressure on Roger. He is an experienced pro, who has been around for a number of years through different divisions. He knows the pressures and the responsibilities that are required, so whilst he is captain for us, we expect him to keep those standards."

Connor added: "I dropped him. I have seen him play better over a number of years. It is his first season with his new club and people do lose form temporarily.

"I thought it was right at the time to leave him out of the team but over the last few weeks he has got his head down and worked really hard and got back in."
