Switzerland

About 100 athletes and 40 officials will represent our small country in the Universiade 2011 in Shenzhen. Situated in the Center of Europe, with 7 million inhabitants and well known for his mountains, chocolate, cheese and watches - Switzerland has 12 universities.

Although the final selections have not been made yet, Swiss athletes will compete in  the disciplines beach volleyball, fencing, golf, judo, gymnastics, athletics, cycling, shooting, swimming, sailing, taekwando, diving and volleyball. Traditionally Swiss students are strong in fencing (world cup winners Max Heinzer und Fabian Kauter) athletics (Nicole Büchler, pole vault) silver medal Universiade 2009) and  taekwando. Of course the Swiss team hopes for some exploits in other sports as well.

Under the slogan +smart+strong+swiss our team is excited to be a part of an event of sporting excellence and we are looking forward to the exceptional facilities, the Chinese hospitality and the special groove of the Universiade.
