GERMANY won the gold in women’s beach volleyball on August,19th.
The United States claimed silver while bronze went to Brazil.
“We are satisfied with our performances in the past few days,” said Karla Borger of the German team.
The team had played five matches in two days. “It was a big challenge for us and we were so exhausted. The weather here is too hot for us and we had had to compete for six days in a row without a rest. But we are glad that we eventually won,” said Borger.
The next goal for Borger and teammate Britta Buethe was to win the gold medal at the German Beach Volleyball Championships next week.
The Chinese team came fourth in the competition.
On the men’s side, Michal Kadziola and Jakub Szalankiewicz of Poland won the gold medal in Thursday’s competition, while the Russian team pocketed silver and the Ukrainians the bronze.
Beach volleyball ended on August,19th.
